Beyond Christianity
“And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.””
— Jesus · John 12:32Jesus is honoured or interpreted beyond Christianity—in Islam and the Bahá’í Faith, in selected Hindu traditions and Buddhist dialogue, and in wider cultural reception.

Original image and licensingJesus has a significant place in religious life beyond the Christian Church, but the kind of place differs. Islam honours Him as prophet and Messiah. The Bahá’í Faith includes Him among the Manifestations of God. Ramakrishna’s tradition offers a specific Hindu example of reverence, while Buddhist engagement with His teaching offers an example of dialogue rather than a common Buddhist doctrine about Jesus.
The Christian confession at the centre of this atlas remains distinct: Jesus Christ is the incarnate Son, crucified and risen, and the Saviour to whom the Gospel calls us. Reporting another tradition’s interpretation faithfully does not make those interpretations interchangeable. The cases distinguish a place in doctrine, a particular community’s devotion, and an individual teacher’s respectful engagement.
